Assistant Manager Accounting

About the role

Project Accountants Ltd, a Jersey-based professional services firm, is looking for an Assistant Manager Accounting to deliver high-quality accounting and financial reporting to a diverse client base, mainly in financial services. The role covers statutory and management reporting, oversight of junior team members' work and the application of technical accounting knowledge under IFRS and UK GAAP.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting, including cash flow forecasts, budgets and variance analysis.
• Prepare and review annual and interim financial statements in line with IFRS, UK GAAP and other relevant standards.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts in agreed client formats and within set timelines.
• Produce financial information for board and committee reporting packs.
• Review and quality-assure the work of other team members.
• Apply and interpret accounting standards and draft technical accounting papers on treatments, judgements and the impact of new or amended standards.

Required profile

• 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on general accounting, financial reporting and tax compliance.
• Experience supporting month-end and period-end close and recurring management accounts; offshore financial services experience preferred.
• Prior experience in a professional services, audit or accounting advisory environment; prior financial services experience desirable.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Qualified or pursuing accountant and member of a recognised professional body (e.g. ACCA, CA or ICAEW).
• Experience reviewing others' work and giving constructive feedback, and supervising juniors.

Required skills

• Demonstrable expertise in IFRS and UK GAAP.
• Advanced Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
• Accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero or SAP is desirable.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote environment.
