Design Specialist - Low-Carbon Heating Solutions

About the role

Jersey Electricity is looking for a Design Specialist to deliver practical, low-carbon energy solutions through its Energy Services business unit. You will support islanders in moving to low-carbon heating technologies by carrying out property surveys and designing heating solutions and technical specifications for electric products and services in the domestic market. The role suits someone comfortable both in customer-facing situations and in technical design work.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and specify heating and electrification solutions for domestic properties, ensuring compliance, efficiency and suitability.
• Carry out desktop assessments and in-home technical surveys with a professional, inclusive and safety-focused approach.
• Develop tailored system designs and specifications that meet customer requirements and performance objectives.
• Ensure solutions allow efficient installation, strong system performance and cost-effective operation.
• Support the quotation and sales process with accurate technical input and design validation.
• Act as the technical link between sales and delivery teams, ensuring smooth project handover.
• Maintain accurate digital records of customer interactions, technical data and follow-up actions.
• Prepare clear, professional written proposals and quotations.

Required profile

• A qualification in building services, engineering, mechanical, electrical or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of domestic heating technologies; knowledge of air source heat pumps is advantageous.
• Ability to assess opportunities and help customers choose the most suitable solution.
• Strong IT literacy and communication skills.
• Experience developing technical documents, estimates and quotations is advantageous.
• Full, valid driving licence and willingness to travel around the Island as required.
