Senior Emergency Response Officer

About the role

The Senior Emergency Response Officer supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of global outbreak response activities. Working closely with technical, finance, and operations teams, the officer ensures timely mobilisation of resources and tracks response efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Activate and implement outbreak response activities within STRIDES emergency frameworks and in‑country incident management systems.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day response tasks across technical, operational, and administrative teams.
• Serve as the central point of contact for consolidating response information during active outbreaks.
• Develop, adapt, and maintain tools, templates, SOPs, guidance notes, and job aids for preparedness and response.
• Standardise reporting templates, deployment trackers, and coordination tools.
• Integrate lessons learned and best practices into emergency response systems.
• Provide technical direction to project staff and support capacity‑building for partners.
• Produce technical briefs, reports, and other materials to facilitate research and policy development.

Required profile

• Proven experience in emergency or outbreak response coordination.
• Strong ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and manage information flow.
• Experience developing guidance documents, SOPs, and reporting tools.
• Analytical mindset for continuous improvement of response processes.
